The Spin-Echo Sequence. Another commonly used pulse sequence is the spin-echo pulse sequence. Here a 90° pulse is first applied to the spin system. The 90° pulse rotates the magnetization down into the X'Y' plane. The transverse magnetization begins to dephase. At some point in time after the 90° pulse, a 180° pulse is applied.

Conventional Spin Echo Mechanism: Spin echo uses a 90° excitation pulse followed by one or more 180° rephasing pulses to generate a spin echo. 5. 6. PARAMETERS T 1 weighting Short TE 10- 30ms Short TR 300- 700ms Typical scan time 4- 6 min Proton density/T2 weighting Short TE 20ms. To see a “spin echo,” we apply a second pulse of RF field, with twice the durationof the first; this pulse is called a 180 pulse. The spins will precess a half-turn with respect to the applied field. Thus phases of the individual spins will be reversed, then the spins revert to precession about the constant field. A spin echo (SE) is produced by pairs of radiofrequency (RF) pulses, whereas a gradient echo (GRE) is produced by a single RF pulse in conjunction with a gradient reversal. The formation of a GRE is illustrated schematically. Following the RF pulse, the first negative-going lobe of the gradient causes a phase dispersion of the precessing spins.

Pulse field-gradient spin echo (PGSE)-NMR has been used to determine the self-diffusion coefficient of dendrimers (D 0), which can be used to estimate the radius of a dendrimer in a specific solvent (assuming a rigid sphere) using the Stokes-Einstein equation (eqn [1]) (note that depending on the dendrimer flexibility, the determination of the hydrodynamic radius (R h) can be highly solvent.

Spin Echo In the study of nuclear magnetic resonance e ects, spin echo is a well-known phenomenon. A related phenomenon is expected to occur in accelerators. In a planar synchrotron, the spin of a particle precesses rapidly around the vertical y-axis with the spin tune spin = G, where G= (g 2)=2 with gthe gyromagnetic. Pulse (or equivalently, the spin echo amplitude at ˝ˇ0), and V(˝) is the amplitude of the spin echo having waited a delay time ˝ before the application of the 180 pulse. For a sample of the output we expect, see Figure1. We measure the amplitude of the spin echo for approxi-mately ten values of ˝using the 90 {˝{180 method for. Fast spin echo sequence. FSE results in reduced imaging times, with the extent of reduction dependent on the number of echoes produced in each cycle; this is also known as the echo train length. The improvement in imaging time is most powerful when used with a rectangular field of view (e.g. spinal imaging), and the phase encoding direction is.

This signal is called spin echo. The echo time (TE) defined as the time between the 90° pulse and the re-phasing completion, which is 2τ. Figure 3-15: Spin-Echo Sequence. Only a single echo decay very quickly. One way for determining T 2 from spin echo amplitudes is by repeating the spin echo method several times with very time τ.
